Letter 1910-1920, Aug. 17, [New York City] to Mr. Edwin Markham, [Staten Island] / Frederick A. Blossom. 1910-1920.

The letter states that he received Mr. Markham's letter. Mr. Blossom sent it to the multigrapher. He even bought extra fine stationary and envelopes for the occasion. But unfortunately, the letter was lost. The Multigrapher called and was very upset by the lost letter. Because he is such a great admirer of Mr. Markham's work. Mr. Blossom also mentions that he arrange for "The Markham Interview" to be published in "The Call."

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
